The biggest sports fan who loved to watch his kids and grandkids play

STRAFFORD, N.H. — John (Jack) Herrick Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on June 6, 2021, at his home in Strafford, N.H., in the presence of his loving family. Jack was born May 10, 1947 in Boston to William B. Herrick and Julia M. Herrick, and grew up in Reading. He then lived in North Reading for over 40 years.

After graduating from Reading High School in 1965, Jack worked for General Electric for 10 years, then as a master plumber and went on to own and operate John Herrick Plumbing and Heating for 12 years. He then went on to teach the plumbing trade to high school students for 17 years at Minuteman Tech in Lexington and Whittier Tech in Haverhill. Jack loved to work and help others. He was the biggest sports fan of his kids and grandkids. His passion in life was discipleship and investing his time in young men to develop their relationship with God.

Jack was married to the love of his life, Sandra Herrick, for 47 years. He is predeceased by his brother Bill Herrick and survived by his brother Jim Herrick, his son Jack Herrick, Jr. and fiancé Drita Noci of Plaistow, N.H.; his son Christopher Herrick and wife, Carla, of North Reading; his daughter Kim Scruton and husband, Todd, of Strafford, N.H.; his son David Herrick of Wakefield and his son Kevin Herrick and wife, Jen, of Strafford, N.H.

Jack was a loving papa to his 12 grandchildren; Julia, Emma, Rebecca, Caleb, Sadie, Izzy, Benjamin, Cali, Miles, Hudson, Ruby, and Gunnar.

Calling hours and visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at True Memorial Church located at 21 Ten Rod Road in Rochester, N.H. on Saturday, June 12, followed by a celebration of life service at 12 p.m. Condolences and flower arrangements can be sent directly to the Edgerly Funeral Home located at 86 South Main Street in Rochester, N.H.
