Kind-hearted family man, mentor and coach with a passion for history

 

NORTH READING — Theodore Distaso Jr. of North Reading passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was 70 years of age.

Born on Wednesday, February 18, 1953 in Boston, Ted was the loving son of the late Theodore Distaso and Anna (DiGiacomandrea) Distaso. Ted was a warm, loyal and kind son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed.

Ted went to Melrose High School where he met his future wife, Sandra. He later attended Northeastern University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, while simultaneously serving as a police officer for Northeastern University. He worked for 26 years as a federal investigator at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring as a supervisory Special Agent, all while lovingly raising a family.

Ted shared a passion for reading countless history books and visiting sites across the United States and Europe. He was well known around the community as a kind hearted man fulfilling roles such as youth sports coach, school trip organizer, and mentor.

Ted is the beloved husband of Sandra (Mann) Distaso. He is the devoted father of Chris Distaso and his wife Leilani and Kevin Distaso and his wife Alexandra. The cherished grandfather of Liliana Distaso, Kaelyn Distaso and Michael Distaso, Ted was also the dear brother of the late Judy Ann Gordon. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends gathered to share memories with Ted’s family on Monday morning, February 12 at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., Stoneham, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Ted’s Eternal Life at noon in Saint Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading.

Interment at Lakeside Cemetery on North Avenue in Wakefield.
