THE UNION Congregational Church partnered with Gina’s Giving Back in Peabody to make Thanksgiving meals for those in need. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, a group of volunteers at the church cooked dozens of pounds of potatoes as well as stuffing, cookies, and muffins to contribute to the meals. Over 20,000 meals were requested from people locally and as far away as Lewiston, Maine. The congregation plans a variety of monthly service projects and will be doing Christmas-in-a-box for the North Reading Food Pantry and writing Christmas cards to prisoners in December. Those looking for ways to get involved may contact Pastor Gayle McGlauflin at gayle@nrucc.org or the church office 978-664-3703.
