NORTH READING — Bear Force One, the brand new pool on wheels enabling schools and organizations to host Mobile Polar Plunge fundraisers that benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts, is coming to North Reading High School on Friday, Dec. 15.
The NRHS Student Council has already signed up 200 plungers who are willing to jump into the icy cold pool during the event that will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
These Mobile Polar Plungers have already raised more than $15,000 to support the programming of Massachusetts’ Special Olympians, such as the Unified Bocce Tournament and the Unified Basketball program in which NRHS students are actively involved as both participants and spectators.
The Student Council is also proud of the fact that NRHS will be the first group in the state to take the plunge in the new Bear Force One! The NRHS Student Council is a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence as well as a Massachusetts Gold Council of Excellence.
The public is invited to come to the school’s parking lot to support the Polar Plungers. A welcome program will be held from 1:45 to 2 p.m. followed by the plungers taking their dips in the pool from 2-2:30 p.m. Polar Plungers include students, teachers and members of various 17 clubs and teams.
