Patrick-Downey-obit-webMELROSE — Patrick Kevin Downey, 43, passed suddenly on May 10.

Mr. Downey was born in Columbia. He was raised in Melrose, played Little League in the Churchill American League and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1991. He lived most of his life in Melrose. Patrick worked as a landscaper for several years and then as a laborer for Feeney Brothers in Dorchester for the past few years. He was a big Boston sports fan but also loved watching North Carolina State Basketball. He loved going to his Mom’s house for St. Patrick’s Day boiled dinner with all his friends and enjoyed going on camping trips with his late father Paul.

Patrick was the son of Elinor (Rupp) Downey and the late Paul J. Downey. He was the father of Taylor Labombard of Wakefield. He was the brother of Christine Fowler and her husband Douglas of Billerica. He was the uncle of Logan Fowler. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Sunday, May 15. His funeral from the Gately Funeral Home took place on Monday, May 16, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Burial took place at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 11 Grove St. Wakefield MA 01880.
