WAKEFIELD — Paul C. Allen, 35, of Wakefield died Friday, June 19, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a long struggle with addiction.
Born in Lynn on April 6, 1980, he was the son of Patricia (Doyle) Green and her husband Kevin and the late Steven Allen.
Paul was a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School, Class of 1999, where he had been a member of the ice hockey team. He later attended North Shore Community College.
Paul had an impressive photographic memory and a sharp wit. Most recently, he had been working as a self-employed landscaper.
Paul enjoyed sports, politics, pop-culture and was very invested in social issues. One of his greatest joys was spending Sunday mornings with his nieces, where he was a staple for Munchkins and playtime.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Paul is survived by his two sisters: Rachel Spencer and her husband Joseph of Amesbury and Jennifer Allen of Wareham; his grandmother Barbara Doyle of Wakefield; his two nieces Allie and Kate; his nephew Sam and his dear friends Brian and Marcia Nelson.
His funeral will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
