WAKEFIELD — Paul Richard Dooley, 78, of Wakefield died on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Boston on Sept. 22, 1936 to Joseph T. and Gertrude (Kelly) Dooley. Graduated Dorchester High School in 1956, earned an associate degree at Northeastern University 1966 and studied meteorology at Boston University Meteorology 1956-1958. He was married to Phyllis M. (Souza) Dooley from May 13, 1966 until her passing in September 2006.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean War. He worked at Kelly’s Landing at City Point in South Boston for many years. His professional career in the insurance industry included work as an agent, broker and consultant across eastern Massachusetts. He retired from the Massachusetts Division of Insurance as an investigator in 2005.
Paul is past president of the Lynn Lion’s Club, served on the Wakefield Board of Library trustees, produced and hosted “The Legislative Report” with Senator Richard Tisei and fulfilled a lifelong goal of being a TV weatherman on local access cable. A 50-year member of the American Meteorological Society, Paul also contributed to the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory for years.
He is survived by his children Kevin and his wife Stephanie, Keith and his wife Stephanie and Karyn and her husband Timothy; his sister Mary; nephew Chuck; nieces Tara and Kate, and two granddaughters Emma and Amelia.
There will be a private viewing at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 with a graveside service immediately following at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
