THE FIRST RECIPIENTS of Wakefield's "Spirit of Community Award" were Brian Fox and Debra Jones. Selectman Ed Dombroski talked of Fox's many volunteer roles in the community, calling him "the embodiment of what it means to be an engaged, active citizen." Santos presented the award to Jones, who has been with the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry since 2009 and is the "de facto manager" of the Food Pantry, which served over 580 families last year.
