Lynnfield defeats Pentucket 3-1 (Sept. 27)
Lynnfield falls to Reading 3-0 (Sept. 29)

LYNNFIELD — On Sept. 21, the Lynnfield High volleyball team edged visiting Triton, 3-2, to go to 3-3 in the Cape Ann League .
It was the Pioneers’ third-straight victory as they improved to 3-4 overall.
The teams split the first two sets as the Vikings won the first set, 26-24, while the Pioneers won the second one, 25-21.
Lynnfield won the third set, 25-18, but Triton won the fourth one 25-23.
In the rubber set, the Pioneers won 15-8.
Junior Chase Carangelo had 20 kills, 12 digs and 27 serve receptions. Junior Erin Higdon had 7 aces and 7 kills. Senior Janhavi Joglekar had 18 assists and senior Lilyana DeLeo had 16 assists.
On Sept. 19, the Pioneers blanked host Georgetown 3-0. Lynnfield won the three sets, 25-8, 25-12 and 25-18. Carangelo had 16 kills against the Royals.
On Monday, Lynnfield moved their winning streak to four with a 3-0 win over Stoneham. Higdon had 12 kills followed by 11 from Carangelo. Higdon also added 10 aces and 11 digs. DeLeo had 10 serve receptions, 17 assists and 8 digs.
After seven matches, Carangelo leads the team in kills with 94. Higdon leads the squad in service aces with 36 while senior Lily DeLeo has 30.
Sophomore outside hitter, Lexi Vaquerano has 10 total blocks while 12th-grader Liv Tare has nine.
DeLeo has 106 assists and Jogkekar has 101.
The Pioneers go to West Newbury on Sept. 27 to take on host Pentucket at 5:30 p.m.
They then go to Reading for a non-league match two days later. That match will start at 5:45 p.m.
On Oct. 3, the Pioneers go to North Reading looking for the season sweep over the Hornets, who they beat 3-0 back on Sept. 15. That match will start at 5:15 p.m.
