WAKEFIELD — Police issued an advisory this morning for all motor vehicle owners to remember to keep their belongings secure by locking doors and hiding valuables, bags and electronic devices from plain sight.

This came after two car owners in the same neighborhood reported yesterday morning their unlocked vehicles had been entered overnight and items taken.

At 8:21 a.m. Wednesday, a New Salem Street resident told police the driver’s side door of her 2008 Kia Sportage was ajar when she went to get into it, and noticed the glovebox was open. No damage was reported to the Kia. A cellphone charger, however, was missing.

At 9:27 a.m. a Salem Street resident reported a 2013 Mazda 3 had been entered overnight and a few dollars in spare change was taken.

A 17-year-old Lafayette Street resident went to work in Peabody and apparently got into a black motor vehicle with Maine license plates. As of 1:41 p.m. she had not returned.

A Crescent Street resident called police at 8:28 a.m. yesterday saying a past injury was requiring an ambulance trip to the hospital.

A visiting nurse called to tell police another Crescent Street resident needed to be taken to the hospital around 8:45 a.m. Action Ambulance was notified.

An elderly man who apparently fell behind the Lincoln School around 4 p.m. yesterday and injured himself needed to be taken to the hospital by Action Ambulance.

A Verizon worker called police around 4:15 p.m. yesterday to tell them he inadvertently hit a gas line servicing an Albion Street apartment. The Fire Department evacuated the entire building while a crew from the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department repaired the line.

A live wire was reported down on Audubon Road yesterday just after 4:35 p.m. The WMGLD responded.

At 5:22 p.m. yesterday police were told of a major traffic jam in Greenwood caused by malfunctioning lights at the heavily traveled Main Street, Oak Street and Greenwood Street intersection.

Police went to an area of the Forest Glade Cemetery off Lowell Street yesterday around 5:20 p.m. after being told of suspicious activity there. Police said people were riding bicycles in the woods and were sent on their way.

Around 7:25 last night police were told that someone in a gray sedan was throwing trash out the window while it was driving along Lake Street. Police said they spoke to parents who said they would in turn speak with the child involved.

Someone reported that a red SUV parked at the corner of Main and Princess streets around 7:30 last night was blocking part of the road. Police responded and found the area clear of any roadway obstructions.

Youths were reportedly throwing bottles out of a car window around 7:35 p.m. yesterday along an unspecified section of Main Street. Police reported that glass was scattered over the road surface and the DPW had been notified to clean it up.

Someone who was dumping trash into a Dumpster located in a rear lot of an Audubon Road business at 8:29 p.m. yesterday was sent on his way. He told police he worked for a cleaning company.

At 3:49 a.m. today a caller requested emergency medical services after a man lacerated his finger on Audubon Road. Police notified Action Ambulance and the Fire Department.

The Fire Department responded to 12 calls yesterday, 10 for medical aid.

Firefighters went to 248 Albion St. at 4:15 p.m. following a report about an odor of gas. Firefighters determined that a worker nicked a gas line and a crew from the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department arrived at the scene to repair it. A crew also went to 95 Audubon Rd. for a fire alarm system malfunction at 4:30 p.m.
