WAKEFIELD — A small quantity of the powerful painkiller fentanyl was reported missing from the VCA Animal Hospital yesterday afternoon.
Police were notified around 4:30 p.m. by a hospital manager that two vials of the synthetic opiate were missing from a storage area. Staff at the hospital will conduct their own internal investigation and police have pledged to worth with them.

Police were told around 2 p.m. yesterday that someone was in “medical distress” on a park bench at the Veterans Memorial Common. It was possibly an overdose.
The person was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Police were told of unconscious man in a Main Street home around 11:30 a.m. yesterday. The man was taken to the hospital by Action Ambulance.

A verbal argument regarding a car door being left open on Pitman Avenue yesterday around 1:40 p.m. drew a police response. It was reported that those involved had calmed down and left the area, police said.

A loud car stereo was reported in an Audubon Road parking lot around 4 p.m. yesterday. An officer on motorcycle patrol stopped by the area and reported no loud music was playing at the time.

A Howard Street resident reported around 5 p.m. yesterday that a man believed to be between 30 and 40 years old with blond hair, wearing a red sweatshirt with black stripes on the arm and black pants has been in her neighborhood on and off for the last few days.
Police sent the man on his way.

A large pickup truck was reportedly blocking the sidewalk in the Pleasant and Eaton streets intersection around 6:50 p.m. Police responded and found no motor vehicle in the area.

A refrigerator with the doors still on that was left out on a Lake Street sidewalk had to be repositioned so the inside could not be accessed sometime around 8:20 p.m.

A Richardson Avenue woman told police just after midnight today that her son’s ex-girlfriend was banging on her front door and refusing to go away. The ex-girlfriend was taken to the station to wait for a ride home.

A woman told police around 6:40 a.m. today she found a small brown “Yorkie-type” dog that had no identification tags. She was she would drive around the neighborhood to see if anyone was out looking for it.
She eventually called police to report the dog had been reunited with its owner.

Firefighters went to a Beebe Lane home around 2:30 p.m. yesterday to help someone get inside after the doors had been locked.
At 3 p.m. yesterday, a fire alarm system malfunctioned at a Lowell Street address.
At 5:30 p.m. yesterday, firefighters went to a two car accident in the 500 block of North Avenue. No injuries were reported.
At 11 p.m., firefighters were sent to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 128 south near Exit 43. The crew was sent back to headquarters as soon as it arrived.
