Immigrated to U.S. at age of 25

FALL RIVER — Polixeny (Keramaris) Kuliopulos, 102, of Fall River, passed away on March 18, 2015. She was born on April 8, 1912 in Neapolis, Kozani, Greece. She was the beloved wife of the late Athanasios Kuliopulos and the devoted mother of Theophilos Kuliopulos and his wife Mary of North Reading, the late Argirios Kuliopulos and his wife Maria, and the late Eleni Kuliopulos. She was the loving grandmother of Harriet Kuliopulos, Athan Kuliopulos and his wife Patricia Wyffels, Christos Kuliopulos and his wife Julie, Thannasi Kuliopulos and his wife Vasiliki and Jason Kuliopulos. She is also survived by three great–grandchildren Capri, Nikos and Colson and many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kuliopulos immigrated to the U.S. from Greece at age 25 to join her husband in Fall River, where they raised their three children. She lived there until age 99, when she moved to Provincetown. A homemaker and business woman, she managing real estate and her husband’s restaurant after he passed away in 1958. She grew up on a farm and raised silkworms as a child, using the silk for embroideries. An avid cook and baker, she made her own soap and knitted beautiful afghans for friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and last visited Greece by herself at 90 years of age as a delegate to the annual Pan Macedonian Convention. Active in her church, she was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She attributed her longevity to both good genes — her grandmother passed away at 111 and she still has siblings in their 90s — and healthy eating.

Her funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 24,  at 11 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Church, 289 Main St., Fall River.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the above named church. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Arrangements by Faggas Funeral Home, 551 Mt. Auburn St.
