LYNNFIELD — The ballot for the town election on Monday, April 13 was finalized on Monday, Feb. 23.

According to Town Clerk Trudy Reid, office staff verified the signatures of registered voters who signed the nomination papers for the 10 candidates running for office.

The town election is headlined by a race for a seat on the Board of Selectmen now held by Selectman Chairman Dave Nelson, who decided against running for a second term in December.

School Committee Committee Chairman Chris Barrett, 38 Fairview Ave., decided against running for a second term on the school board and threw his hat into the selectman’s race. Barrett returned nomination papers on Monday and is officially running against political newcomer Katy Shea, 7 Daventry Court. Shea returned papers recently.

“For many years, it’s been my honor to serve Lynnfield in a number of civic and community positions and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve the town I love on the Board of Selectmen,” Barrett said in a statement e-mailed to the Villager. “My record speaks to the fact that I’m a proven leader ready to make an immediate impact on the Board of Selectmen.”

The rest of the town election candidates are running unopposed.

School Committee member Salvatore Cammarata returned papers to the town clerk’s office on Monday and is running for a second three-year term on the school board. Former School Committee member Tim Doyle returned papers and is running for a three-year term. Doyle previously served on the school board from 2000-2012.

Two candidates are running for two seats on the Board of Library Trustees. Board of Library Trustees member Seavey Bowdoin, who has been a member of the board for the past 34 years, returned papers recently and will be running for another three-year term. Timberhill Terrace resident Russell Boekenkroeger returned papers and is running for a three-year term. Boekenkroeger is looking to succeed Library Trustee Kerry Haughney, who decided against running for re-election after serving on the board the past 21 years.

Planning Board Chairman John Faria returned nomination papers and is running for a five-year term. Town Moderator Arthur Bourque returned papers and is running for re-election once again. Don Garrity returned papers and is running for a second three-year term on the Board of Assessors.

In the wake of Housing Authority member Bruce Siegel’s decision not to run for re-election, local attorney and former Housing Authority member Michael Walsh pulled papers last week and returned them on Monday. Walsh is running for a five-year term.

The last day to object to a nominee or withdraw from the race is Monday, March 11. The last day to register to vote in either the town election or April Town Meeting is Tuesday, March 24. The town clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. that day to facilitate voter registration.
