MELROSE — Over 40 Melrose High School students laced up their sneakers on Friday, June 19 to take part in the 2015 Relay for Life event the Northeast Regional Vocational Technical School in Wakefield.

The Melrose High School “Stand Up to Cancer Club” run by English teacher Mindy Kisling, created a team named “Raiders Never Sleep” and indeed they did not while they walked laps in the all-night event held from 7 p.m.- 7 a.m. at the outdoor track of the school. The event benefits the American Cancer Society and featured an Opening Ceremony, Luminaria Ceremony, activities, entertainment and more.

The Raiders were among the top fundraisers, second in efforts with raised funds of over $6,630 dollars for the American Cancer Society. Among those charitable walkers and fundraisers were:  Megan Kisling, Yvane Ngassa, Steven Abbott, Nicolette Adrian, Nick Anderson, Jack Aylward, Lea Bagley, Collin Casey, John Casparriello, Saoirse Connolly, Sean Connolly, Nick Cordeau, Cameron DiBiccari, Michael Dreske, Samantha Fazio, Bella Federico, Meghan Feeney, Brian Hatch, Maddie Jancsy, Shannon Jones, Yasmin Kasbi, Calvin Macdonald, Marinska Marcellus, Christian McAree, Caroline McDermott, Gabby McDonnell, Haley McGovern, Julia McLaughlin, Tess Mele, Devin Mullett, Courtney Murphy, Olivia Sampson, Jackie Schwarz, Joey Siciliano, Liam Singleman, Julia Symonds, Hayley Walters-Doyle, Max Watson, Devondre Williams and Olivia Zibaitis.
