FIFTEEN MEMBERS of the Wakefield Fire and Police departments held a brief but emotional service this morning in front of the Public Safety Building to recall the lives of the more than 350 first responders who went to the World Trade Center in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001 following a strike by terrorists. Firefighter Steven Bivens rang the bell during the service, which also included remarks by Fire Chief Michael Sullivan, a moment of silence and prayers for the fallen and their families. The American flag outside the building was lowered to half mast. (Gail Lowe Photo)
