Baldasaro-obit-webMELROSE — Renette M. (Sampson) Baldasaro of Melrose died on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014.

She was the beloved mother of her daughter Susan (Baldasaro) Smith; her sons Norman F. Baldasaro Jr. and his wife May, Timothy Baldasaro and his wife Gina, Mark Baldasaro and his wife Susan, all of New Hampshire, and Christopher Baldasaro of Oregon; and of her predeceased daughters, the late Renette and Kathleen Baldasaro. She was the caring sister of her “Big Sister” Rose McClure of Maine. She was predeceased by her late brothers, Roland, Russell, Roger and Raymond Jr. and her late sister, Sr. Ruth Sampson. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was the loving companion of the late Anthony D’Amore of Everett and cherished friend to his children and their families. She was the best friend of Carmella Colangelo, of Revere.

Renette was a daily communicant at St. Mary Church in Melrose, where she was a member of Our Lady’s Sodality. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and brought communion to the homebound. Renette also volunteered at St. Mary Grammar School, where she enjoyed reading to the preschool children.

She returned to school as an adult, completing her associate’s degree at Bunker Hill Community College, after which she worked at The Boston Company and later at BNY Mellon.

Renette loved people and could often be found at her Dunkin’ Donuts in Melrose drinking her extra light hazelnut coffee and recently trying to figure out how to use an iPad.

The funeral was from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, Dec. 29, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10 a.m.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Parish in Melrose, c/o St. Vincent de Paul Society.
