WAKEFIELD — Richard A. Harrington, 64, of Wakefield died Monday, August 22, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Mr. Harrington was born in Boston on February 26, 1953 and was the beloved son of the late George and Evalen (Chalmers) Harrington. He was raised in Wellesley and was a graduate of Wellesley High School, Class of 1953, and later from Nichols College. He had been a Wakefield resident for 41 years and was the owner of Harrington Contracting Company of Wakefield. For 40 years he was proud member of the Wakefield Auxiliary Fire Department.
Mr. Harrington was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Holmes) Harrington. He was the loving father of Matthew S. Harrington and Jeffrey A. Harrington and his girlfriend Kimberly McLaughlin, all of Wakefield. He was the devoted grandfather of Ryan Harrington and was also the brother of Douglas B. Harrington.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10. Interment will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday 12 noon to 3 p.m.
