SALEM — Richard Alan Murray Sr., 63, of Amesbury, formerly of Salem, died unexpectedly Jan. 30.
Born in Melrose, he was the son of Helen (Dulong) Murray and the late John Murray. He was raised and educated in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1969.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Murray worked as a foreman for many years in the chemical industry. He began his career with the Waterlack Company in Peabody. He moved on to Stahl USA of Peabody. Most recently he had been employed with the Tanning Corp of Peabody. He was also the proprietor of R.A.M. Cleaning Services for many years.
A longtime resident of the city of Salem, Richard was an active member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans # 55 (PLAV) of Salem and enjoyed spending his time golfing, bowling and playing cards with his friends. He was a dear friend to many and will be deeply missed.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Paula Murray of Lawrence, Erin Murray of Amesbury and Lori Murray of Lynn; his son, Richard Murray Jr. and his wife Kate of Amesbury; his mother, Helen (Dulong) Murray of Wakefield; his grandchildren Julian, Madison, Deliah and Aleeah; his brother John Murray and his wife Cindy of Wakefield, and several nieces and nephews.
