Avid hunter, retired from WMGLD
\GILFORD, N.H. — Richard E. Mahan, 84, of Gilford, N.H. and formerly of Wakefield, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Lakes Regions Hospital.
Born in Pittsfield on July 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Francis and Mildred (Tymerson) Mahan.
Mr. Mahan was a graduate of North Reading High School. He had worked for the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department before his retirement in 1995. Mr. Mahan was an avid hunter.
Mr. Mahan was the husband of Gloria C. (Tartarini) Mahan. He was the father of Debra J. Siciliano Steeves of Saugus and Kathleen A. Butterfield and her husband William of Gilford, N.H. He was the brother of William Mahan of Stoneham, Sandra Bryer of North Reading, Lois Grace of Florida and the late Teresa Kalil, Robert Mahan and Herbert Mahan. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o’clock.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
