Navy veteran served on board the USS Essex

 

Loud-Obit-webWILMINGTON — Robert A. Loud, age 70, of Wilmington, formerly of North Reading, passed away on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, 2014, after a period of declining health.

Born in Winchester on March 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert W. Loud, who also passed away on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, 2002 and Priscilla A. Proctor DeGroot. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol A. (Mitchell) Loud and his twin sister, Ann Loud Duggan and her husband Gerry, all of Wilmington. Other survivors include his two daughters, Michelle Stosez and her husband Joe and Meredith Bennett and her husband Mathew, all of Maine and his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his special aunt, Louise Proctor Shields and her husband Ken of New Durham, N.H. and three nieces, several cousins, step–brothers and step–sisters.

Robert served his country for three years in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. He graduated from North Reading High School, he was a former North Reading Firefighter and worked at H.P. Fuller and Terrill Corp in Wilmington. He was a former member of North Reading Masonic Lodge AF&AM and served on the advisory board of North Reading Assembly Order Of Rainbow Girls.

A graveside service will be conducted in the veterans section of Riverside Cemetery, North Reading on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m., with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy.
