Long-time G.E. employee; grandfather of seven

OBIT_Briggs,-Robert-webLYNNFIELD — Robert G. Briggs, 77, of Lynnfield, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Winthrop on November 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles and Agnes (Marion) Briggs.

Mr. Briggs was raised in Winthrop. He was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1957, and had attended Wentworth Institute. Mr. Briggs was a longtime G.E. employee. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Briggs is survived by his wife Margaret M. (Walsh) Briggs; his three sons: Robert G. Briggs Jr. and his wife Melissa of Wilmington, Paul J. Briggs and his wife Jennifer of Lynnfield and Michael J. Briggs and his wife Corinne of Easthampton; and his seven grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Aidan, Keely, Lily, Connor and Austin Briggs. He is also survived his brother, Charles Briggs of Winthrop, and his two sisters, Mary Moriarty of Winthrop and Laura Keane of Randolph.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Friday, May 15 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Salem and Grove streets, Lynnfield, at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
