US Air Force veteran

TUCSON, AZ — Robert Joseph Portelle passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, February 24 in Tucson, Arizona.  

Bob, a twin, was born on November 24, 1932, in East Boston to the late Josephine and Michael Portelle. He was predeceased by his wife Claudia; his son Robert; sisters Mary and Joanne; and brothers Joseph, Edward and Donald. 

Bob grew up in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1951. He was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He is survived by his twin sister Roberta P. Clark of Plymouth; his daughter Brigitte Portelle of Genoa, Italy; his partner June Martin; and her daughter Belinda and son-in-law Tom Gow of Tucson, AZ. He was the adored grandfather of Alex. 

He will be remembered most as a friend to all with a ready smile and a little joke. Interment will take place at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose in the spring.
