Robert-Schmidt-webLYNNFIELD — Robert A. Schmidt, 90, of Lynnfield died Thursday, Feb. 18 at Billerica Crossing.

Robert was born in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sept. 14, 1925 and was the son of the late Albert and Anna (Steab) Schmidt.

He was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School in Michigan and later graduated from the University of Michigan. He was a long time resident of Lynnfield since the 1950s. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Lynnfield Congregational Church.

Robert was the loving husband of the late Goldie H. (Hansen). He was the loving father of Gary P. Schmidt and his wife Agneta and Anita Schmidt Zander and husband Olof, all of Sweden. He was the brother of Margaret Hallas of Ann Arbor, Mich. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

His funeral will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
