SCITUATE — Robert Uriah “Bob” Skane, 76, of Scituate and formerly of Melrose, died at his home on Sept. 16.

Bob was born and raised in Everett and attended Everett schools. He resided in Everett until 1956, Melrose for 27 years and the past 11 years in Scituate.

Bob was an ironworker for the Local #7 for over 50 years before his retirement.

He was a dog lover and enjoyed scratch tickets and watching sports. The most important part of Bob’s life was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie (Correia) Skane for 57 years. He was the loving father of Donna Akerley and her companion Jerome Sanfilippo of Somerville, Robert Skane and his wife Theresa Hadley of Billerica, Jeffrey Skane and his wife Jackie of Melrose, Michael Skane and his wife Carol of Scituate, John Skane and his wife Hilary of Medford and the late Linda Campbell. He was the caring brother of Beatrice Thistle, Doris Linnane, Marilyn Crain, John Skane and the late Edward, George, Joan, Skane and Brenda Todd. He was the cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and the late David Akerley. He was the former father-in-law of William Campbell of Wakefield.

A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
