SCITUATE — RoseMarie (Correia) Skane, 74, of Scituate and formerly of Melrose, died at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Dec. 24.
RoseMarie was born in Malden and attended Girls Catholic High School in Malden. She was a homemaker and resided in Melrose for 27 years and the past 11 years in Scituate.
RoseMarie was a member of the St. Francis Bowling league in Medford for many years.
She enjoyed cooking family meals for large family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important part of her life.
RoseMarie was the beloved wife of the late Robert U. Skane for 57 years. She was the loving mother of Donna Akerley and her companion Jerome Sanfilippo of Somerville, Robert Skane and his wife Theresa Hadley of Billerica, Jeffrey Skane and his wife Jackie of Melrose, Michael Skane and his wife Carol of Scituate, John Skane and his wife Hilary of Medford and the late Linda Campbell. She was the cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and the late David Akerley. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the former mother-in-law of William Campbell of Wakefield.
A funeral service was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m.
Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
