WAKEFIELD — Rosemary (Twomey) Dwyer, of Wakefield, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 5 surrounded by her family.
Born in Lynn on June 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Maurice A. and Eleanor (Waters) Twomey. She was the beloved wife of Daniel F. (Dan) Dwyer, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
A graduate of Lynn English High School and Salem State College, Rosemary taught elementary school in Lynn before starting a family. She was a longtime Wakefield resident and devoted member of St. Joseph Church.
Rosemary was an avid golfer, tennis player and gardener. She was a generous and loving woman, who always thought of others before herself and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her many grandchildren, who will miss Nana greatly.
In addition to her husband, Rosemary is survived by her children: Kevin Dwyer and his fiancée Jackie of Arlington, Va., Kathleen and Chris Driscoll of Middleton, Taighe and Nancy Dwyer of Cohasset, Sean and Melissa Dwyer of Narberth, Pa., Meaghan and Anthony Ryan of Lexington, S.C. and Cara and Ray Johnson of Belmont. She was the sister of Maurice A. Twomey Jr. of Lynnfield, Donald Twomey of Lynn and Carole Trahant of Danville, N.H. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Brendan, Ian, Molly, Colin, Cait, Taighe, Brynn, Ceili, Paddy, Mairead, Cian, Eloise and Finbarr.
Rosemary’s funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10:30, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30 a.m.
Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m.
