Part of the team that designed guidance system for Apollo Space program

WAKEFIELD — Ruth Mary Moser, 91, of Wakefield died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Winchester Nursing Center.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Otto H. and Clara (Pilny) Moser.

Though born in the United States, Ms. Moser was raised and educated in Switzerland and returned to this country as a young woman. She was employed for many years as a mechanical engineer at Draper Laboratories. She was part of the team that designed the guidance system for the Apollo Space Program. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Malden. In retirement, she was a volunteer at PAWS Wakefield (Protection of Animals in Wakefield).

Survivors include her godchildren, Stephen M. Knowles and Laura E. Knowles.

A memorial service at the First Lutheran Church of Malden will be planned at a later date. Arrangements care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
