Retired medical lab technician

WAKEFIELD — Ruth R. (Robinson) Martakos, 74, a resident of Wakefield for 43 years, and formerly of Lynnfield, died suddenly at her home on Dec. 12.
Ruth was born in Winchester on Jan. 12, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard B. and Kathleen (Merritt) Robinson. Ruth worked as a medical lab technician for the Malden Hospital, then the Whidden Hospital for several years, retiring in 2012.
She was a member and Junior Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, Oppela Temple #50 in Wakefield and a life member and Past Royal Matron of the Corona Court, Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth.
Ruth was the devoted mother of Karen E. Martakos and her partner Christopher Blue of Arlington. She was the cherished sister of Elaine Hornbeck of Pelham, N.H., Howard B. Robinson Jr. of Amherst, N.H. and the late Diane Robinson.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn Street), in Reading from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral services and burial are private.
