DellaRusso-obit-webMELROSE — Sandra Marie (Jangro) DellaRusso of Melrose passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9.

Sandee was born to Edmond and Alice (Pistey) Jangro in Stoneham, grew up in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1952. She helped raise her brothers and sister while working as a model for the Ford Modeling Agency and for Bob Lippman Ad Agency in Boston. Sandee lived in Melrose for 36 years, was a longtime member of The Incarnation Church and Bellevue Golf Club. She was a member and also served as president of Sharing and Caring, a nonprofit organization dear to her. Her home on Marmion Road was always the center of neighborhood gatherings and tennis games.

She was an avid sports fan, who loved to watch her children and grandchildren play as well as her Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. Sandee loved to cook and was best known for her sauce and meatballs. She was a warm and caring person who loved to give advice on fashion, restaurants, theater and etiquette.

Sandee was the beloved wife of the late Richard M. DellaRusso, who she took care of for many years until he passed away in 2001. Sandee was the loving mother of Maria L. DellaRusso of Charlestown and friend Douglas P. Williams; Richard J. DellaRusso and wife Mary of Darien, Connecticut; and Melissa D. McSweeney and husband Kevin of Topsfield. She was the cherished mima to Julia, Gabriella, Sophia, Caroline, Matthew and Mason.

She was the devoted sister to Joseph P. Jangro and wife Monica of Windham, New Hampshire; William P. Jangro and wife Carol of Ocala, FL; Donald G. Jangro and wife AnnMarie of Sandown, NH; Sherwood Stemple of Mineral, Virginia; and Bruce M. Jangro and wife Carol of Wakefield. She was Predeceased by her loving sister Joyce A. Stemple, who passed away last year. She was a special mother and grandmother to Michael D. DellaRusso, Tracey DellaRusso, Rachel DellaRusso and Michaela DellaRusso. She is also loved by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and friends’ children.

When her children were grown, Sandee took on a new role in the workforce at Expeditor’s International, a company very dear to Sandee that became like an extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18 from 4- 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A funeral Mass will be held at the Incarnation Church, Melrose, on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. Interment immediately following the funeral Mass at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
