MELROSE — The City of Melrose has announced its official Memorial Day Weekend Ceremonies schedule. The city welcomes the community to join us in honoring members of the military who lost their lives in service to our country and their families.

These events are made possible thanks to the Melrose Veterans Advisory Board, Melrose Director of Veterans Services Roseann Trionfi-Mazuchelli, the Melrose Public Schools, DPW, and many community organizations. 

24 May 0800 

Memorial Day Assembly (Veterans Encouraged to Attend; Please RSVP)
Location: Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School 

Breakfast begins at 0800 – Assembly begins at 0900 – Veterans wishing to attend are encouraged to call the administration at 781-979-2100 to give their name, branch, and dates of service. 

25 May 0900 

Decoration of the Graves (Open to the Public)
Location: Wyoming Cemetery, Sylvan St. 

Please join local scouting troops and assist in placing new flags at the graves of our deceased veterans.

25 May 1100 

Flag Retirement Ceremony (Open to the Public)
Location: Wyoming Cemetery Sylvan St. (at the flag retirement area)

We will conduct a flag retirement ceremony with assistance from local scouting troops.

26 May 1000 

Vietnam Veterans Reflection Area Brick Dedication Ceremony (Open to the Public)
Location: The Knoll on Lynn Fells Parkway across from Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School

Gold Star Families Memorial Dedication Ceremony (Open to the Public)
Location: Top of the Knoll on Lynn Fells Parkway across from Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School 

26 May after morning events

Collation for Veterans (Open to the Public)
Location: VFW Post 1506, 428 Main Street 

Food, beverages, and camaraderie will be served.
