WAKEFIELD – Sean M. Lyons, 54, of Wakefield died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

He was born in Malden on November 3, 1965 to the late Benjamin and Mary (Shanahan) Lyons.

Sean was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Northeast Regional Vocational High School. He worked for the Local #17 as a sheet metal worker. He was passionate about his vintage Ford Bronco and BMW motorcycle. He was also an avid traveler and photographer.

Sean was the beloved husband of Julie M. Smith, whom he always made laugh until the very end. He was the brother of Christopher Lyons and his wife Denise of Lynn. He was the nephew of the late Dotti Fiander of Medford. He was the uncle of Matt Smith and his wife Nicole, Brianna Smith, Megan Whalen and Shannon Whalen. Sean was especially close to his in-laws who not only became part of his extended family, but also close friends to him. He was also the godfather to his nephew Matt Smith as well as to Joseph and Jeff Melanson of Malden. Sean had many friends who all will remember his kindness, smile and sense of humor. Also brother of Lori Lyons of Haverhill.

His funeral mass will be celebrated at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday, December 3 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Interment will be private. Arrangements in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
