CHESTER, N.H. — Sharon M. Giunta, 64, of Chester, N.H., formerly of Wakefield, died on Wednesday, March 2 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.

Born in Melrose on Aug. 6, 1951, she was the daughter of Ann Orifice and her husband Salvatore of Wakefield and the late William B. Merry.

Sharon was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1969, and Granite State College, Class of 1993. The love of Sharon’s life were her children and her grandchildren. Sharon devoted much of her professional and personal life to helping others through her service at Community Action Head Start and most recently at Emmaus, Inc. in Haverhill.

Sharon’s work took her into the lives of countless women and families in need. She empowered and enriched their lives through her genuine compassion and kindness. Sharon took solace in her beautiful gardens at her lake house in New Hampshire and cherished the many heart-shaped rocks she discovered, received and gifted to others.

In addition to her mother, Sharon is survived by her three children Kristin Murphy and her husband Michael of Merrimac; Jamie Giunta and his wife Chantal of South Lake Tahoe, Calif. and Elizabeth Lufkin and her husband Jesse of Chester, N.H. Also, her seven grandchildren Michael and William Murphy, Jack and Ryker Lufkin, Izabella and Madaline Giunta and Tylor Buyak; her three brothers John Merry and his wife Cecilia of Westford; Bruce Merry and his wife Eileen of Rockport; David Merry and his wife Kathy of Westford and her sister Susan Merry of Wakefield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be private.
