We initially had power outages to 2,891 households, mostly on the west side of the tracks as well as the Mount Hood area. National Grid has restored power to some of those areas already. The Roosevelt School, the library, and the Milano Center all now have power. Please check on your neighbors, especially if they are elderly or in poor health.
There has been some minor flooding due to leaves blocking catch basins. DPW has been clearing them on an ongoing basis. We encourage you to clear the catch basin on your own street if it is covered in leaves.
We have had numerous tree limbs down, and we are working to clean those up. Downed limbs from city-owned trees can be reported to the City Yard at 781-665-0142. Private trees are the responsibility of the homeowner.
Overall, National Grid had 125,000 residences without power statewide, including 46,000 on the North Shore. They have 200 crews in the area and are working to get the power back on as quickly as possible. We will update you as soon as we have more specific information.
Heavy winds are expected to continue throughout the day, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.
