MELROSE — Susan Jane Benedetto, age 57, of Melrose died September 24, 2021. She was born on March 12, 1964 in Winchester, MA to Anthony R. and Rosella (Vittozzi) Benedetto.

Susan was raised in Wakefield and was a 1982 graduate of Wakefield High School.

Susan was the baby of the family, being the youngest out of five children. She had her own unique relationship with each of her siblings and loved them all dearly; however, she shared a special bond with her brother David, who was the closest sibling to her in age. Susan and David shared many cherished childhood memories together, including wrestling matches while vacationing in Cape Cod and many others. For one week between their birthdays, Susan would “catch up” to David and share the same age. Susan would revel in this fact much to her brother’s loathing.

Susan endured many hardships in her life, but throughout it all, Susan always maintained a positive and upbeat attitude and a spirit of giving beyond measure. She had a sharp wit and candor that was unmatched. Susan was known for her love of shopping catalogues and gift giving. She took Christmas very seriously, shopping throughout the year and having gifts impeccably wrapped by September. Her distinctive gift-giving taste and generosity will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her.

Susan looked on the bright side of life and maintained this outlook by always looking forward to doing things that she enjoyed, like spending quality time with family and friends, blasting her favorite tunes, and enjoying a well-prepared meal. She will be greatly missed.

Susan is survived by her two brothers Robert A. Benedetto and his wife Catherine of Derry, NH, George P. Benedetto of Manchester, NH, her sister Paula L. Russell of Dunedin, FL, her sister-in-law Tina Benedetto of Homosassa, FL, her seven nieces and nephews, Steven and his wife Jessica, Jonathan, Justin, Robin and her husband Darrell, Anthony, Melissa and John, and her six great nieces and nephews, Steven, Rosella, Zoey, Lena, Fiona, and Darrell. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Anthony R. Benedetto and Rosella (Vittozzi) Benedetto, and her brother A. David Benedetto.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Friday, November 5 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Arrangements in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
