NORTH READING — The Selectmen’s annual property tax classification hearing has been continued until Monday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. in Room 14 of town hall. The hearing was originally scheduled for Nov. 24, but had to be continued because the state Department of Revenue is behind schedule in certifying the property valuations and other financial data submitted by cities and towns.
In addition to setting the tax rate, the hearing is the setting in which the Selectmen determine the percentage of the local tax levy to be borne by each class of real and personal property for fiscal year 2015 in accordance with state law.
