U.S. Army veteran with local survivors

SOMERVILLE — Thomas A. Roderick of Somerville and Moody Beach, Maine, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family, he was 84.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Irene (Restell) and Anthony Roderick and graduated from the Rindge Technical High School. A Korean War veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years with Hub Glass Company and was a member of Local 1044.

Mr. Roderick enjoyed playing cribbage and cards, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed time spent fishing and boating the waters off the Maine coast but nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Fletcher) Roderick, who passed away in 2009, and the devoted father of Thomas A. Roderick Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wakefield, MaryJane Eldridge and her husband Bill of Somerville, John Roderick and his fiancée Nancy Hughes of Revere and the late Margaret Ann Roderick. Cherished grandfather of William Eldridge and wife Julie, Megan Eldridge Mahnks and husband Daniel, Alden and Nathan Rice, Jennifer Feranec and husband Nicholas, Brianna, Nicole and Danielle Roderick. Great-grandfather of Joseph, Noah, Samuel, Lucas and Daniel. Dear bother of Ann DiNitto and husband Raymond of North Reading and the late John Roderick. Brother–in–law of Marion Campbell and her late husband Roderick and the late James and Shirley Banks.

His Funeral Procession was held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Square) Somerville on Monday, May 9 followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, Somerville.

Interment was at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
