Local man was working towards Nursing degree

Hourihan-obit_webWAKEFIELD — Timothy Shawn “Timmy” Hourihan, 46, died August 20 at his residence.
Born in Melrose on August 22, 1970, he was the son of Linda (Canty) Hourihan and Thomas Hourihan.
Timmy was raised in Wakefield on the West Side and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1988. Following high school, he had gone to work at Jack’s Custom Woodworking for many years and most recently as a concrete polisher at DCI in Woburn.
Timmy had been taking classes at Regis College and was working towards a Nursing degree. He had been working part time as a certified nursing assistant at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital – Med 3, caring for families during difficult times.
Timmy was selflessly dedicated to others and was a great friend. Above all, he loved his family; he spent all of his free time with his two sons. He especially loved hockey, as his sons are involved in the Wakefield hockey program.
Timmy had a love of animals, especially wolves, and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and dirt bikes.
In addition to his parents, Timmy is survived by his beloved wife Stacey Ann (LaScola) Hourihan; his loving sons, Cody and Caden Hourihan of Wakefield; his brother, Michael Hourihan of North Andover; his sister, Kelly Porterfield and her husband Dave of NH; his nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Tyler, Jacob, Bella, Joshua, and Caleb Hourihan, and Sgt. Sean Porterfield and Danielle Porterfield. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins; especially his beloved aunt Nancy Canty.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o’clock. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
