WAKEFIELD — Property vandalism and the theft of a motorcycle were among a variety of calls police handled over the weekend.

On Friday at about 12:15 p.m. police took a report of a parked car being sideswiped by a gray Mercedes that was backing out of a spot in front of McDonough’s Liquors of Water Street. The Mercedes reportedly left without stopping. Police were not able to locate a parked vehicle with any damage.

A gray 2015 Indian Scout motorcycle was reported stolen from a garage at the Avalon Condominiums at 14 Audubon Rd. on Friday at about 5 p.m. The owner said that he parked the motorcycle, valued at about $12,000, in the garage two days earlier and went away for a few days. When he returned, the bike was missing. Police are checking security cameras as part of their investigation.

At about 6:20 p.m. on Friday, a resident reported a suspicious man wearing tan pants and a hooded sweatshirt crouching on a front lawn on Lowell Street. Police were unable to locate anyone in the area fitting that description.

On Saturday at about 9:30 a.m., a Water Street resident reported ongoing harassment and possible damage to property in the form of tire tracks on a new sod lawn. Police observed no permanent damage.

Vandalism was reported to a 1996 Ford van parked in an industrial parking lot on New Salem Street on Friday at about 1:20 p.m. Police discovered pry damage to the rear window in an apparent attempt to gain entry to the vehicle.

Just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, a caller reported a dog running in and out of traffic on Water Street near the Saugus line. Police were unable to locate the canine.

A 17-year-old was issued a citation for possession of a small amount of marijuana Saturday at about 4 p.m. after police were informed of drug activity among a group of 8-10 youths in the square.

At about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, a man reported that another man had thrown some liquid on his vehicle as he was driving down Pleasant Street. Police were unable to locate the individual who threw the liquid. A few minutes later the driver called police again to report an odd smell coming from his car. Police observed no damage and the owner planned to wash the car.

Police placed a 30-year-old Wakefield man in protective custody after he was struck by the side mirror of a 1996 Dodge Dakota traveling on Parker Road Saturday at about 9:30 p.m. The driver told police that he tried to avoid the man, who was apparently intoxicated and stumbling in the roadway but did graze him with his driver’s side mirror.

A caller reported a friend out of control at McDonald’s on Main Street at about 11 p.m. Saturday night. Police found all quiet on arrival and sent the individual in question on his way.

Police will summons a 44-year-old Lynn to court man for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after a vehicle stop at Water Street and Montrose Avenue on Sunday at about 6:20 p.m.

The Fire Department responded to 25 calls over the weekend, 19 of which were for medical aid. Most of the remaining calls were for for malfunctioning alarm systems, including a call to Nazareth Academy on Cordis Street after a smoke machine being used during a Halloween party set off the fire alarm.
