WAKEFIELD — A 15-year-old youth will be summonsed to court sometime this week on a charge of vandalizing town property in the Square.

Patrol Officer John Whaley was keeping an eye on the downtown area Saturday night at about 7:45 when he noticed a youth damaging holiday decorations, including small ornaments, on shrubs placed in wooden barrels.

Whaley spoke to the youth about the vandalism and defacement of town property and he will now face these charges in Cambridge Juvenile Court

Several thefts were reported over the weekend, beginning with an orange Mongoose bicycle valued at about $200 reportedly stolen from a front yard on Aborn Avenue. The incident, handled by Patrol Officer Andrew Dorney, was logged just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Also:

• Patrol Officer Thomas Flynn spoke to a citizen on Main Street just after 6 p.m. who said his brother’s iPhone 5S had been stolen. The phone was valued at about $200.

• In a third incident, a Sylvan Avenue resident told Patrol Officer Matthew Warren at 12:35 p.m. Saturday that $500 in cash was missing from her purse. There were no signs of forced entry into the woman’s home. An investigation has been launched.

• A cell phone stolen from a citizen on Main Street was reported at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police went to the scenes of eight motor vehicle accidents over the weekend, starting Friday:

• Just after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Broadway. Papers were exchanged. Police said the collision was minor.

• At about 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Rte. 128 north. State Police handled the accident scene.

• Just after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of New Salem and Preston streets when a driver reportedly struck a deer. The front quarter panel of her car was damaged.

• At 9:15 p.m. on Quannapowitt Parkway. The Fire Department also responded.

On Saturday:

• At about 5 p.m. on Rte. 128 south at Exit 42. State Police handled the accident scene.

• At 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lowell and Vernon streets. Police assisted with the exchange of papers.

On Sunday:

• At about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Grafton and Main streets. One driver was issued a citation.

• Just before 6 p.m. on Crescent Street a driver struck a parked  car. The Fire Department and a towing service also responded.

In other police business over the weekend, beginning Friday:

• A credit card found in the Square was turned in at the Police Station at about 12:15 p.m. The card was returned to its owner.

On Saturday:

• A wallet found in the vicinity of Church Street and Lake Avenue was found at 7:15 p.m.

On Sunday:

• A Pleasant Street resident told police her car had been vandalized. Police noted scratches to the hood of the vehicle. The call was logged just after 4 p.m.

• A Richardson Avenue resident reported at about 7:30 p.m. that he received threats from another man. He requested that the incident be logged.
