WAKEFIELD — Possible vandalism to a vacant building that is set to be demolished as part of the Brightview project drew the attention of Police and the Fire departments on Friday. The Fire Department requested police assistance at 338 Main St. at about 9:15 a.m. on Friday. Responding to an earlier fire alarm, firefighters had found what appeared to be the contents of fire extinguishers all over the floor as well as broken light bulbs and other litter. Firefighters reset the fire alarm.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, a woman called police to report a past incident in which someone may have thrown an object at her car while she was traveling on North Avenue. The woman reported hearing a “thump” and found dents and scratches on the rear driver’s side. There were no other witnesses to the incident.

Poor weather conditions apparently contributed to a minor two-car crash on Vernon Street at about 5:45 p.m. on Friday, which resulted in a young girl being taken to Winchester Hospital. Police said that a 2011 Subaru driven by a 67-year-old Wakefield man and a 2005 Honda driven by a 43-year-old Wakefield man were traveling north on Vernon Street when the Honda slowed to take a right onto New Salem Street. The Subaru slid into the Honda.

Police said that slick road conditions due to snow falling at the time may have been a factor. A 10-year-old girl was taken to Winchester Hospital with unspecified injuries. No citations were issued and both cars were driven away from the scene.

At about 5 p.m. on Saturday, a North Emerson Street man reported to police that his wife had been assaulted by an upstairs neighbor. No further details were available.

Police assisted a Richardson Avenue resident just after midnight on Sunday after she found the front door of her home open. The woman said that her roommate’s boyfriend had recently been accessing the property without permission. Police conducted a walk-through with the resident and all appeared to be in order.

At about 5 p.m. on Sunday, a Chestnut Street resident was taken to the hospital after ingesting a large amount of mouthwash.

Police, the Fire Department and Action Ambulance responded to the Lakeside Inn at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after a caller reported that a woman may have overdosed on the second floor of the hotel. Responding units found a 24-year-old woman conscious and alert. The woman told public safety personnel that she had consumed some cocaine, the synthetic drug “molly” and some anti-anxiety medication. The woman was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Police will summons an 18-year-old Saugus man for driving with a revoked license after the car he was driving was stopped on Albion Street at about 11 p.m. Sunday. Officer Shane Pelletier was monitoring traffic at Main Street and North Avenue and observed a vehicle turn right from Main Street onto North Avenue. After conducting a routine Registry check, Pelletier discovered that the registered owner’s license was suspended. He then stopped the car and confirmed the driver’s license was revoked.

The Fire Department responded to 31 calls over the weekend, 25 of which were for medical aid.
