WAKEFIELD — Vincent Anthony “Vinny” Sergi, 89, of Wakefield died Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Born in Medford on Jan. 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Mariano and Giovanna (Spagnolo) Sergi.
Vinny was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He went on to work for Boston & Maine Railroad and then Xtra Corporation, before venturing out on his own as a handyman. Vinny loved to walk Lake Quannapowitt and enjoyed the nice weather, going out to eat and going to the movies.
He was the father of Tracy Spaniol and her husband Shaun of Wilmington and Christopher V. Sergi of Los Angeles. He was the former husband of Maria D. (DiBenedetto) Sergi of Wilmington. He was the brother of the late Lena Kelley and Frank Sergi. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason and Kaitlyn Spaniol; as well as one niece and two nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the Mass beginning at 9 a.m.
