Virgina-Ehlers-obit-webMELROSE — Virginia A. “Ginny” Ehlers, 70, of Melrose, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on Oct. 13.

Ginny was born in East Boston, raised in Belmont and was a graduate of Belmont High School, Class of 1956. She went on to graduate of secretarial school. Ginny worked as a traffic supervisor for the City of Melrose for many years, resided in Melrose for 48 years and loved to spend her time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, antique stores and making quilts for many family members. Ginny collected stamps, coins and anything Victorian.

Ginny was the beloved wife of Thomas E. Ehlers for 50 years. She was the loving mother of Thomas J. Ehlers of Salem, Daniel E. Ehlers and his wife Toni of Saugus and Melissa L. Ehlers of Melrose. She was the cherished grandmother of Alexzandria, Christopher, Laura, Alyssa, Emily and Samantha. She was the caring sister of Earl McBride of Boston, Kenneth McBride and his wife Jeanne of Framingham, Patricia Galvin and her husband Brian of Belmont and Marybeth McBride of Beverly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Monday, Oct. 17. A Funeral Service was held at the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. Burial took place in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
