MELROSE — Police Chief Michael L. Lyle and the Melrose Police Department would like to advise the community that the MBTA will be replacing the train tracks on West Wyoming Avenue this week.

The MBTA will be on site beginning Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 a.m. Traffic will remain open in both directions until around 9:30 a.m., and then one lane may close for the duration of the day.

Work will resume at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at which time West Wyoming Avenue will be closed in both directions. Westbound will be shut down at Main Street and eastbound will be closed at Pleasant Street.

Detour signs will be posted in the area, directing drivers through side streets. The MBTA is expected to complete work in the area on Monday, Oct. 24, prior to the start of the morning commute.

“We thank residents in advance for their patience during the weekend construction,” Chief Lyle said. “We will have officers on site to assist with traffic flow.”
