WAKEFIELD — The 2019 municipal election season got underway this morning with six residents pulling papers for nomination to various positions to be decided on April 23.

Philip R. Courcy of 4 Pine Hill Cir. will run for one of two seats up for election on the Board of Gas and Light Commissioners.

Thomas H. Boettcher, 25 Wakefield Ave., also took out nomination papers for one of the two Gas and Light positions.

The three incumbent Town Councilors — Ann McGonigle Santos of 39 Converse St., Anthony J. Longo, 15 Fell St., and Peter J. May of 12 Garden Ln. — all pulled papers for reelection together today.

Jonathan Chines, 34 Hopkins St., also took out nomination papers for a seat on the Town Council.

Fifty valid signatures and addresses of registered Wakefield voters are required on each candidate’s nomination papers, which became available this morning at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall.

KEY DATES

The last day to obtain nomination papers from the Town Clerk’s office will be Friday, March 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The last day to submit nomination papers for certification by the Registrars of Voters will be Tuesday, March 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The last day to file nomination papers with the Town Clerk will be Tuesday, March 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The last day to object to, or withdraw nomination papers will be Thursday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And the last day for residents to register to vote in this spring’s municipal election is Wednesday, April 3.
