Happiest with a full house and a meal with family and friends
WAKEFIELD — Cecelia Lamphier, age 81 of Wakefield passed away at her home Sunday July 28.
Born in Malden on June 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Margaret A. (O’Mara) Phinney. Ceil grew up in Malden and graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton and the Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated nurse at Melrose Wakefield Hospital where she spent over 40 years caring for and supporting mothers-to-be in the Labor and Delivery department.
Ceil and her husband Arthur moved their young family to Wakefield in 1970 where they have been blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors and are long time parishioners of Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
Ceil was a loving, kind and wise person. Her home was filled with love, warmth and laughter. Nothing made her happier than a full house and a meal with family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of Arthur J. Lamphier for 59 years. She was the devoted and loving mother of Michael Lamphier and his wife Jacqueline of Wakefield; John Lamphier and his wife Tara of Warwick, RI; and Andrea Reese and her husband Daniel of Weddington, NC. Her ten grandchildren: Emily, James, Colin, Genevieve, Matthew, Alex, Morgan, Jack, Jake and Meredith were the lights of her life and they will miss her with all their hearts. She is also survived by her brother John H. Phinney and wife MaryAnn of Lancaster, PA; Donald M. Phinney and wife Melanie of Chatham; sister-in-law Claire Morrissey and husband Bob of Venice, FL; her Ferrick cousins and many nieces and nephews, she loved them all dearly.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Friday, August 2 at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
