WAKEFIELD — John P. Hurton, 64 a lifelong resident of Wakefield died Thursday, August 22 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Melrose, December 30, 1959, he was the son of the late Thomas “Tucker” and Mary (Beane) Hurton. John attended St Joseph’s School and was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1978.
John leaves behind his longtime companion Sue Lucey and her son Brendan. John was pre-deceased by his brother Tucker and sister Paula; leaves behind Tucker’s wife Joan; his siblings Philip Hurton and his wife Jane; Barbara Hurton; Lois and her husband Chuck Dishmon; Paul Hurton and his wife Lynne; and Mary Nardone and her husband John. He also was the uncle to many nieces and nephews.
John recently retired from MassDOT after 32 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed the Bruins. He was a devoted caregiver to his parents. John made many close friends in his lifetime and will be missed by all who knew him.
