A parishioner at St. Joseph Church and was a wonderful cook

WAKEFIELD — Juliette Hamboyan, 95, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children, on April 14, 2022.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon on March 31, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Voscorian) Hermes.

Juliette was raised and educated in Beirut, Lebanon. Due to World War II, she had to drop out of middle school and took a job teaching at The Sisters Academy, a parochial school in Beirut. In 1949, she married her late husband and they had five children. In 1969, after twenty-four years of employment at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, her late husband received a special State Department visa, the family emigrated to the United States, where she has been a Wakefield resident ever since. Juliette had worked for Compugraphic in Wilmington and had also worked for New England Life Insurance Company in Boston, from which she retired. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner at St. Joseph Church, in Wakefield. She was a wonderful cook and believed food and prayer were the answer to everything. Juliette was the matriarch of her family, she enjoyed her tight-knit family and encouraged frequent family gatherings at her home.

She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob “Jack” Hamboyan. She was the loving mother of Jeanine Ohannessian and her husband, Nazareth, of Salem, N.H.; Anthony Hamboyan and his wife, Aimee, of Burlington; Denis D. Hamboyan and his fiancée, Ellen Harrigan, of North Andover; Suzy Knight and her husband, Larry, of Davie, Fla. and Christine Halliday and her husband, Mark, of Wakefield. She was the grandmother of Maggy Chung, Jacob Ohannessian, Adam Hamboyan, Alexander Hamboyan, Tatiana M. Harrison, Marcelle L. Hamboyan, Jonathan Knight and Derek Knight. She was the great grandmother of Kaitlyn, Matthew, Jacob, Joseph, Mia and Lucas. She was the sister of Antoinette Fracheboud of Switzerland and Edgard Hermes of Westchester, Pa. and the late Rene Hermes, Edmond Hermes and Jacqueline Ghazzi.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Wednesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
