Senior captain Brooklyn Calder made history by earning her 500th career dig in the victory. She led the team with 13 digs and 13 receptions.

Juniors Lila Arkinstall and Jackie Sullivan set the tone by controlling the net. Sullivan had 6 kills and an incredible 6 blocks. Arkinstall had 5 kills and 5 aces from the service line.

Junior Mia Kenny also added 5 kills along with 2 aces, 3 digs and 4 serve receptions.

Junior Brendia Diaz had a strong serving day, collecting 5 aces.

Juniors Allison Cook (12 ast) and Tori Grace (9 ast) had a great match as Wakefield’s setters.

That win proceeded another 3-0 triumph when the Warriors beat Watertown on Sept. 20 at the Charbonneau Field House by set victories of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-10.

Wakefield’s serving helped them gain control in each set against the visiting Raiders.

Calder (5 aces), Cook (5 aces) and sophomore Kiera Thomson (4 aces) were especially impressive from the line.

Arkinstall led the way with 7 kills followed by Kenny (6) and Sullivan (4). Sullivan also had 4 blocks in this one.

Wakefield’s winning streak was snapped by Winchester, 3-0 on the road Thursday. The Red and Black are currently 10-2 and ranked No. 20 in Div. 1.

After a quick first set, Wakefield battled back in the second, just falling 25-23 before the home team sealed it, 25-18 in the third.

Kenny had 5 kills, 17 digs and 18 serve receptions. Junior Cara Carangelo had 4 kills. Calder had 31 receptions and 9 digs.

Wakefield didn’t have enough consistent hitting in this one but their net presence was still strong as Arkinstall, Sullivan and sophomore Ila Carpenter each had 4 blocks.

The Warriors fell to Woburn 3-1 on road Saturday. After taking the first set 25-13, the Tanners roared back to win the next three, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19.

Kenny (12 kills), Arkinstall (7 kills) and Carangelo (6 kills) all attacked well in this matchup.

Senior captain Sophia Anderson had 4 aces, 24 digs and 14 receptions.

Wakefield bounced back with a 3-0 win over Reading back at home yesterday. A full story will appear at a later date.

The Warriors are now 8-3 on the season. In the first power rankings of the season released last week, Wakefield was ranked No. 16 in Div. 3.

Wakefield will get the rest of this week to prepare for their next match this Sunday, 3:30 p.m. against Arlington Catholic at the Charbonneau Field House.
