Known for her beautiful smile, kindness and love for everyone

NAPLES, Fla. — Arda Antonia (Caputo) Halliday, 90, of Bourne and Naples, Fla., formerly of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on May 8, 2021.

Born in Revere January 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Marciano and Louisa (DeMarco) Caputo.

Arda was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1948. She met the love of her life and future husband at a football game as a cheerleader for Revere High School. Arda and Whip Halliday were wed in June of 1950, starting their love story in Winthrop before settling in Wakefield to raise their eight children.

Arda was an amazing artist and an avid reader throughout her lifetime, sharing so many of her beautiful paintings with family and friends. She had this innate ability to bring out the best in everyone around her. The family traditions that Arda and Whip created, while summering on Cape Cod, have kept their family very close and tight-knit.

Arda and Whip enjoyed retirement where they spent their winters in Naples, Fla. and summers in Gray Gables, Cape Cod. Arda was a devoted parishioner at St. John’s the Evangelist, Pocasset, Mass. and St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, Fla.

A true matriarch of her eight children, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, Arda was known for her beautiful smile, kindness and love for everyone. Whip and Arda celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June on Cape Cod with their entire family.

She was the beloved and adoring wife of the late Wilbur L. Halliday. She was the loving mother of Kathleen Banks Halliday of Bourne; Keven Halliday and his wife Aleta of Dedham; Michael Halliday and his wife Tricia of Bedford, New Hampshire; Christine Halliday Lyons and her husband Robert Miegel of Brookline; Mark Halliday and his wife Christine of Wakefield; James Halliday and his wife Karen of Bourne; Vicki MacKay and her husband Tom of Wakefield; and the late Timothy Halliday.

She was the sister of the late Rudolph A. Caputo and Walter A. Caputo. She was the cherished grandmother “Mim” of Brian Banks and his wife Leanne; Eric Banks and his wife Erin; Travis Halliday and his fiancée Tracy Keenan; Jared Halliday and his wife Cory; Brandon Halliday and his wife Leigh; Jennifer McCarthy and her husband Michael; Jessica Halliday; Cara Lyons and her husband Tom; Maura Lyons and her husband Josh; John Lyons and his wife Carolina; Olivia Miegel; Kerri Farley and her husband Michael; Kristen Diotte and her husband Jeff; Kourtney Durepo and her husband Derrick; Jimmy Halliday and his wife Sally; James MacKay and his wife MaryLuz; Amanda Sheehan and her husband Ryan; and Matt MacKay and his wife Erin. She was also the proud great-grandmother “Gigi” to her 25 great-grandchildren.

The Halliday family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support of love, prayers and donations over the past 58 days during the loss of both of their parents. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers for their parents’ continued love story in Heaven.
