Vietnam veteran loved the outside world

WAKEFIELD — Kenneth “Kenny” Lyle Jr., age 77, passed away after a long illness on Friday June 18, 2021. Kenny will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Bernadette.

Kenny was born on August 3, 1943, in Middletown, Connecticut, to Kenneth Lyle Sr. and Mary “Alice” Lyle. He graduated from Wakefield Memorial High School. Upon graduation, Kenny entered the Navy and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked for American Mutual/AIM Mutual for 50 years.

Kenny’s greatest pleasures was tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed making magnificent salads for his family and friends with all the vegetables he had so carefully grown.

Another of Ken’s pleasures was that of a bird watcher. He kept track in his bird book of the 100’s of birds he saw. Another of Ken’s pleasures was rock collecting.

His collection had over 300 pieces, rocks, minerals and geodes. He loved the outside world.

He will be fondly remembered by his brother Richard Lyle and sisters Donna Turner and Susan Lyle, along with four nieces and 3 nephews.

A celebration of Kenny’s life will be celebrated at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday July 31st at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service from 10-11am.
